Absar Alam is a senior Pakistani journalist. He also served as the fifth Chairperson of Pakistan’s Electronic Media Regulatory Authority. (PEMRA).
He was appointed head of PEMRA in October 2015 and served until the courts dismissed him in December 2017.
Absar Alam was shot in a park near his home in April 2020, perhaps by someone who didn’t like him criticizing Pakistan’s military. He was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries and completely healed.
