Khashoggi was born on October 13, 1958, in Medina, Saudi Arabia. He began his career as a journalist in the 1980s, working for various Saudi Arabian newspapers. In the 1990s, Khashoggi served as a media advisor to Prince Turki Al Faisal, the former director of Saudi Arabia’s intelligence agency.

Khashoggi later became editor-in-chief of Al-Watan, one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent newspapers. During his time as editor, Khashoggi was known for his liberal views and criticism of the Saudi government. In 2003, he was fired from his position at the newspaper after publishing articles that were critical of the Saudi religious establishment.

After leaving Al-Watan, Khashoggi continued to write and comment on Saudi Arabian politics and society. He wrote for a number of newspapers, including The Washington Post, and was a frequent guest on news programs.

In 2017, Khashoggi went into self-imposed exile in the United States after the Saudi government banned him from writing and speaking publicly. On October 2, 2018, he went to the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, to obtain a document he needed for his upcoming marriage. He never emerged from the consulate, and it was later revealed that he had been murdered by a team of Saudi agents who had been sent to Istanbul to carry out the killing.

The murder of Khashoggi received widespread condemnation from the international community, and many countries called for an investigation into the incident. The Saudi government initially denied any involvement in the killing but later admitted that it had been carried out by Saudi agents. The murder had a significant impact on Saudi Arabia’s reputation and strained the country’s relationships with many of its international allies.
