Momina Duraid is a film director and producer from Pakistan. She is Hum TV’s senior producer and creative director, as well as the CEO of her own production company, MD Productions. Dastaan (2010), Qaid-e-Tanhai (2010-11), Humsafar (2011-12), Shehr-e-Zaat (2012), Zindagi Gulzar Hai (2012-13), Diyar-e-Dil (2015), Sadqay Tumhare (2015), Mann Mayal (2016), Udaari (2016), Bin Roye (2016), Yaqeen Ka Safar (2017), Suno Chanda (2018), (2019).
Momina made her feature debut in 2015, co-directing Bin Roye. She founded Hum Films, a film production firm, later that year. She is married to Duraid Qureshi and the daughter-in-law of Hum Network’s president and founder, Sultana Siddiqui. In 2015, she was named to Pond’s Miracle Journey: The 100 Most Inspiring Women list.

Career

Momina worked as a marketing executive at a bank before moving into the media industry, and she says, “Media was the last thing I expected I’d do.” Sultana Siddiqui, my mother-in-law, was obviously involved in the industry because she worked for PTV, but at first, I was simply interested with economics. I had no notion I’d become interested in the aesthetic side of things.”

She received critical recognition for her work in Samira Fazal’s Mere Paas Paas, her first independent drama series. She created the partition-based drama series Dastaan in 2010, based on Razia Butt’s novel Bano. The series starred Fawad Khan, a novice at the time, and Sanam Baloch as the main character Bano.

Dastaan received positive reviews from critics and went on to become one of the most lauded television shows of all time.

The series received the Hum Honors Most Difficult Topic Award at the 1st Hum Awards presentation, as well as five nominations at the 10th Lux Style Awards, where Haissam Hussain won Best Director. Momina then developed several series, founded her own production company, Momina Duraid Productions, and ascended to the position of senior producer at Hum TV.
