Rahat was born June 30th, 1946 at Simla, India. Rahat’s father worked as an attorney, and he wanted Rahat’s son to be able to do the same thing. Rawalpindi is where Rahat got his high school diploma.

He was a member of his position in Pakistani Civil Services in 1968 as an Information Officer. In 1976, he resigned from his position and began working as an actor. At present, Rahat is the administrative director at L’ecole of Advanced Studies(LAS) which is an academic institution in Karachi.
Rahat also instructs English literature and drama to A-level pupils in LAS, Karachi. Rahat has also been the IDJIT director of the National Academy of Performing Arts. He previously taught at the Avicenna School and Hamdard University (Clifton Campus, Karachi) in 2001.
