Tehmina began her literary career in 1991 with her memoirs, ‘My Feudal Lord.’ The book sparked many debates since it was unusual for a woman in Pakistan at the time to speak out so forcefully about her violent spouse. Her spouse was a well-known and respected figure in Pakistan.
Artist
Tehmina likes painting a great deal. Catharsis, one of her shows in 1992, included her paintings. The image was eventually used as the cover for her 1998 book Blasphemy. She took part in another show, A Love Affair, in 2016. In an interview, she discussed her works and stated,
I’ve always wanted to paint but I never had the time. I did about ten paintings in twenty, years, but this work has all been done in the last five months. I’m not satisfied with my work, I don’t think any artist is, but this is a beginning. Right now I’m still a curiosity, so I haven’t really found out if I`m any good.”
