Zaira Wasim is a former Indian film actress who acted in Hindi films. She was born on October 23, 2000. Wasim was awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (formerly known as the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement) in 2017 after previously receiving several prizes, including a Filmfare Award and a National Film Award.
Wasim made her film debut as young Geeta Phogat in Dangal (2016), which went on to become India’s highest-grossing film, grossing more than 2,000 crore ($300 million) worldwide. Career
In June 2015, Wasim was signed by filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari to make her feature debut in the biographical sports film Dangal (2016). The principal photography for the film began in September 2015, and she finished her role in December of that year.
The film received positive reviews from critics and went on to become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time, grossing more than $20 billion ($300 million) worldwide. It told the story of pehlwani amateur wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan),
who trains his two daughters Geeta (Wasim) and Babita (Suhani Bhatnagar) to become India’s first world-class female wrestlers.
